On behalf of the PTA, we are excited to welcome your family to Strandwood Elementary!

Strandwood is a very parent-driven school, so the investment in every child’s education is personal. You’ll find PTA volunteers helping in the classroom, in the library, running annual Holidays events, encouraging learning, working to raise funds for new technology, and more!

Our National PTA has over 6.5 million members and 26,000 chapters in all 50 states. When it comes to working for the benefit of our kids, the PTA has significant influence at the local, state and federal level.

The PTA’s Role in our School

BUDGET The Strandwood PTA manages a yearly operating budget in excess of $175,000, which pays for over 50 programs, all of which benefit our kids. Together we make a lasting, positive difference for Strandwood students.  

RESOURCES, MATERIALS AND PROGRAMS

The PTA actively supports and improves the educational program and facilities for  all students. Every year we provide classrooms with supplemental materials and supplies and sponsor continuing education  not provided for in the school’s regular budget.

• Instructional Assistants • Chromebooks • Math Materials • Overhead LCD Projectors • Library technology and equipment 

SITE IMPROVEMENT

The PTA works with the School District to landscape, develop and upgrade playgrounds and facilities.  We are currently in the planning stage to create an interactive courtyard garden for our students.  

TECHNOLOGY

The PTA funds new computers, software, maintenance, and related teacher training. Technology is a required  and necessary part of the curriculum and we're working harder than ever to ensure students have the tools they need to  succeed. 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS & EVENTS

Strandwood PTA is committed to enriching the educational experience of all students. We  work hand-in-hand with our volunteers to sponsor programs such as Read & Dream, the Nutcracker, Planet Protectors, our  Fall Festival and Assemblies.

PTA-Sponsored Programs & More

Strandwood PTA manages numerous programs that involve students, parents and entire families! Our PTA volunteers manage holiday events, reading programs, bike-to-school days, as well as fundraising events and opportunities. There are endless ways to engage both students and adults, while benefitting our school and making your child’s experience at Strandwood a memorable one!

After School Enrichment

Strandwood’s PTA coordinates independent vendors that offer after school programs for our students. Different programs are offered to different age groups and are updated with each cycle.

We try to select varied classes like art, music, physical activities, science-based classes, and other enriching experiences for our students.

Although After-School Enrichment Programs are temporarily put on hold during distance learning, check out our past offerings, as well as updates on future programs!

Partner Family Program

We know transitioning to a new school can be overwhelming. Looking to the future, we are testing the idea of partnering incoming families with experienced Strandwood families to help ease this transition for you and your children. Ideally, a partner family can help answer any questions you may have about the school, our programs, events, and more. The program is still in its early stages, and we are currently gauging our community’s interest.
