President's Message
Dear Strandwood Families,
My name is Jennifer Nebo, and I'm excited to introduce myself as we kick off another school year! My family has been part of the Strandwood community since 2020. This year, my son is starting middle school and my daughter is entering 4th grade. What I love most about Strandwood is being part of such an amazing community, filled with teachers who are truly passionate about education. My hope for this year is to help expand our Roadrunner Fund, so that over time we can rely less on fundraising events and more on sustained, ongoing support for our school.
I'm looking forward to a great year and to connecting with all of you!

The Strandwood PTA is a space of collaboration, transparency, and approachability, and I'm fully committed to continuing that approach this year.
Our goals remain consistent: to support and strengthen Strandwood Elementary so all students can reach their full potential. We're here to build community and to support you and your Roadrunner through enriching programs, events, and fundraisers. We have lots of fresh ideas for this year, and I'm hopeful they'll bring the same joy, excitement, and funds as years past.
Word of the Year - VOLUNTEER
Our PTA was never meant to be run by one person, or even a handful. The programs we're fighting to keep at Strandwood take many hands to sustain. Past PTA presidents and members worked hard to build great programs that enrich our kids' lives.
Let's keep that momentum going and strengthen it, together! Whether you join on Jump Start Day, two weeks into the school year, or two months in, it's never too late to get involved and help keep Strandwood ahead of the curve and thriving.
How can I help?
There are a variety of ways you can help! The PTA is a not-for-profit organization that relies directly on the support of family and friends of Strandwood Elementary. Through donations and volunteer help, the money we raise goes directly back into enriching our children’s education. Your contributions help fund:
Expanding school staff: Instructional assistants, science teachers, reading aides, and a district technology specialist.
Enriching students' education: New learning opportunities through art, science, music, and more!
Powering classrooms: Supplies needed for our students to thrive in their classrooms or from home.
Supporting technology: Accessibility and support for students and teachers through classroom equipment, Chromebooks, and staff.
The Roadrunner Fund is one of the PTA's major annual fundraisers and makes these programs possible. This year's ask is $270 per family, and your donation is tax deductible. Make a donation today!

Can I join PTA?
We'd love to have you! We rely on all our amazing parents and caregivers to help make Strandwood a safe, welcoming school that supports every student.
Joining is simple: pay a yearly membership fee of $11. Membership lets you (but doesn't require you to) participate and vote in all General Association Meetings and gives you a say in how PTA funds are spent. It's a fun, enriching way to be directly involved in your child's education.
Membership is not mandatory, and it doesn't mean you've signed up for a position on our executive board. If you'd like a more hands-on role, please reach out! We have wonderful opportunities for parents to get more involved, and all are welcome.
