For many children, The Nutcracker will be the only live stage experience they will ever participate in during their formative school years. Starting in Kindergarten as little mice, they are nervous and tentative to step on stage. In third grade, more than half of the girls audition for the coveted role of Clara. Although only three are chosen, the other girls are equally excited to dress for the “Party Scene,” "Wind Up Dolls" or “Chinese Tea." By the time the kids reach 5th grade, they are more than ready to assume the lead role of Drosselmeyer or The Nutcracker. When asked what is their favorite part of Strandwood, the majority of our kids will say “The Nutcracker”.
